Task 1 –

Introduction – i am going to be researching 3 different types of online businesses from the private, public and N.G.O sector in order to bring ideas for the business i am going to create.
Private Sector – JD Sports –
JD Sports a private sector business operating across the United Kingdom. JD Sports has a online website which is a good key on helping make their business more professional and more visible to the UK shoppers. Having this online website of theirs has made JD Sports more known to the communities and therefore has had a whole lot more customers buying their products.
Rules and Regulations -
·         Distance selling regulations
·         Trade
Financial issues and risks – Having the online website gives the customers a chance to pay for their product online. The customer would get its refund once the goods are returned to the seller. However having an online website can sometimes be risky as customers may perform fraud. A main way of preventing fraud is having a lot of security systems on the website.
Funding - One of the ways many businesses raise their status is by advertisement. This would invite more customers for the business. It would usually cost £50,000 or above depending on the type of business. If the business becomes successful then it’s easy for the owner to open more stores.
Organisational Structure – The business would need to function with the best constitution that is suited to its purpose. This depends upon if the business either has a hierarchical or flat structure.
·         Hierarchical structure – the hierarchical structure usually has many layers of management.  Each one of these managements has a fine extent of control. The way this would usually work is instructions would deliver from one level of management to those below them, then the response would come from the below level to upwards. This system that is managed from the reporting system of hierarchy to the bottom is known as the string of order/command. The hierarchical offers plain opportunities for promotion and this could make things less stressful for both managers and employees because every worker in this structure would know their role. JD Sports is of a hierarchical structured organization.
Job roles – There would be different type of job roles in the business such as –
·         Manager, Director, IT Administrator, Channel manager, Tax collector, HR, etc.
I.T main role would be about the technology such as the computer/PC managing the networking etc.
Website design features - Stands out and looks attractive. Its colour schemes are preety much similar to the one in the shop.

N.G.O – Oxfam

Financial issues and risksOxfam gives customers the chance to shop online instead of having to go to the actual shop. However delivery costs a little extra so sometimes customers might not want to add that little extra due to the fact they might not have enough money on their account.
Rules and Regulations -
·         Manage control of the property
·         Supervising of the property
·         Protect the property
Funding - Oxfam has a lot of advantages on its funding as it has very attractive advertisements that make customers check the online site to see what they are all about. The more the business is becoming successful the more it extends its business.
Organisational Structure -  Oxfam is more of a flat structured business
·         Flat Structure - unlike the hierarchical structure the flat structure organization would have few levels of management between managerial and the employees. The basic idea that is held behind having a flat organization structure is to empower employees by making them a larger part of the decision process.
Job Roles - Manager, I.T. Volunteers etc.
I.T. – the I.T. role will be to design the website making it look eye-catching for the customers.
Website Design Features -   The website has many search boxes in order to help anybody who is on the website to search for anything in particular that they desire to find out about. Its website is colourful and more appealing.

Public Sector - St Thomas Hospital -
 Rules and Regulations
·         Health and safety –
Financial issues and risks – St Thomas hospital provides information online to reach out to customers what type of facilities they provide for patients. However the risks are focused exclusively on the deliver of risk and insurance.
Funding – It’s funding comes from the government.
Organisational Structure – St Thomas Hospital is more of a hierarchical structure -
Hierarchical structure – the hierarchical structure usually has many layers of management.
Job Roles – I.T. administration, workers, director, HR etc.
Website design features -   Plain website. Has many search boxes in order to help customers  or whosoever is on the website to search for anything in particular that they desire to find out about. The hospital has majority of the colours that are on the website such as turquoise, blue, white, etc.
